Program Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Clinical Support Technician I to provide essential support in our Neurosurgery/ENT Acute Care Unit. This unit is a 24-bed facility specializing in post-operative care for surgical patients.
Our patients present a variety of conditions, including:
- Post-operative brain and spinal surgeries
- Cancer treatments
- Neuro- and spinal-trauma
- Stroke recovery
Additionally, our ENT patients primarily deal with head and neck malignancies, requiring various surgical interventions.
Working in this unit offers numerous opportunities to enhance foundational clinical skills and critical thinking, including:
- Airway management
- Tracheal suctioning
- Feeding tube care
- Neurological assessments

This position entails a commitment of 36 hours per week, with 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am), including weekend and holiday rotations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, including equipment procurement.
2. Monitor patient care documentation and report significant changes to registered nurses or physicians.
3. Perform various clerical tasks, such as organizing workloads, greeting visitors, and maintaining medical records.
4. Provide clinical support, including cleaning work areas, restocking supplies, and assisting with patient transport.
5. Deliver direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and measuring vital signs.
6. Reinforce patient education provided by healthcare professionals and document patient understanding.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Listed as Nurse Aide I Registry with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
- One year of clerical or customer service experience and six months of related nursing assistant experience
Skills:
Fluency in verbal and written English is required, along with the ability to develop computer skills if necessary.
