The State of Vermont is seeking a skilled Transportation Operations Technician I to join our team. This role is responsible for performing various tasks related to highway maintenance, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and overtime may be required.

This is an entry-level position that offers excellent benefits, opportunities for career development, and a CDL training program. As a Transportation Operations Technician I, you will work in a dynamic environment with a dedicated team to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of our transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on highways and roads, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, and patching roads
  • Assist with plowing and salting in the winter months
  • Operate heavy equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Work in extreme outdoor weather conditions
  • Participate in a random drug and alcohol-testing program

Requirements:

  • No education or experience required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for the successful completion of original probation
