About the RoleWe are looking for a seasoned equity investor to play a pivotal role in our Technology team within Global Industry Research (GIR), focusing on research and investment recommendations in the global software sector, which includes both front and back office applications as well as analytics.
With over $147 billion allocated to technology across more than 50 Portfolio Managers, this area represents a flagship franchise for Wellington. The software sector constitutes a significant portion of our coverage universe, accounting for 28% of our total technology assets. Our broad technology team consists of over 20 professionals working across public and private markets. Our Global Industry Analysts (GIAs) are the firm's experts in their respective sectors, tasked with generating superior investment returns through comprehensive company, sector, and industry research and analysis.
GIAs establish their own research agendas, which are integral to their individual philosophies and processes. They are expected to be thought leaders within their sectors, demonstrating a consistent ability to generate unique investment insights and effectively guide a diverse range of Portfolio Managers towards the most compelling investment opportunities.
Our GIA team also functions as Portfolio Managers, managing substantial client assets across multiple concentrated alpha sleeves as part of our $150 billion suite of research portfolios and other client solutions.
The influence of our GIAs extends well beyond their research and asset management roles. As subject matter experts, they can impact a wider array of portfolio managers who operate across various investment styles, regions, and time horizons, including benchmark-relative, total return, and long/short strategies.
Our investment culture thrives on rich, rigorous, and respectful debates regarding insights, assumptions, and theses from multiple independent perspectives, often aligned with unique client objectives and individual portfolio team processes.
Our GIAs are central to this discourse, igniting and contributing to discussions with the shared goal of generating superior investment returns for our clients.
Essential Skills- Stock Picking Acumen, Alpha Generating Skill, and Passion: Ability to be forward-looking, understand the factors influencing a stock, and identify its critical drivers. Proven track record of successful stock recommendations based on a philosophy and process that enables consistent alpha generation in the information technology sector. Comfort with ambiguity and risk-taking. Possess a highly analytical mindset with a robust risk and valuation framework. Creative approach to identifying emerging trends and key inflection points.
- Communication, Collaboration, and Ability to Influence: Proven ability to build deep, long-term relationships with company management teams. Strong interpersonal skills to engage in respectful and rigorous debates about actionable investment ideas in a collaborative environment. Ability to influence the investment decisions of portfolio managers. Concise and persuasive communication skills.

- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in technology investing, particularly with risk-taking experience in software companies.
- Ability to identify key industry drivers and creatively assess long-term stock winners and losers.
- Exceptional analytical and valuation skills, with the capacity to connect insights across a sector.
- A global perspective and strategic thinking within the technology sector.
- Commitment to fiduciary responsibility and achieving positive client outcomes with the highest standards of integrity.
- Strong academic credentials; MBA or CFA/CAIA preferred.
