About the RoleWe are in search of a seasoned equity investor to become an integral part of our Technology team within Global Industry Research (GIR), tasked with performing research and providing investment recommendations within the global software domain, covering both front and back office applications, as well as analytics.
With over $147 billion allocated to technology across more than 50 Portfolio Managers, this represents a premier franchise for Wellington. The software sector constitutes a significant coverage area, accounting for 28% of our total technology assets. Our broad technology team comprises over 20 professionals across public and private markets. Our Global Industry Analysts (GIAs) serve as the firm's subject matter experts for their respective sectors, aiming to generate superior investment returns through fundamental company, sector, and industry research and analysis.
GIAs establish their own research agendas, which are central to their individual philosophies and processes. They are expected to be thought leaders in their respective fields.
The most successful GIAs consistently demonstrate the ability to generate unique investment insights and effectively guide a diverse range of Portfolio Managers towards what they identify as the most compelling and distinctive investment opportunities.
Our GIA team also takes on the role of Portfolio Managers, managing significant client assets across multiple concentrated alpha sleeves as part of our $150 billion research portfolio suite of products, in addition to other client solutions.
The influence of our GIAs extends well beyond their research activities and asset management. As subject matter experts, they can impact a broader array of portfolio managers managing across various investment styles, regions, and time horizons, including benchmark-relative, total return, and long/short investment strategies.
Our investment culture thrives on rich, rigorous, and respectful debates regarding insights, assumptions, and theses across multiple independent perspectives, often with unique client objectives and individual portfolio team processes.
Our GIAs are at the heart of this discourse, igniting and contributing to discussions with the shared goal of generating superior investment returns for our clients.
Essential Skills- Stock Picking Acumen, Alpha Generating Skill, and Passion: Ability to anticipate market trends, understand the factors affecting a stock, and identify its critical drivers. Proven track record of successful stock recommendations based on a philosophy and process that consistently generates alpha within the information technology sector. Comfort with ambiguity and risk-taking is essential.

A passion for developing strong and trusting relationships through respectful and rigorous discussions of actionable investment ideas in a highly interactive setting.

- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in technology investing, particularly with risk-taking experience in software companies.
- Ability to identify key industry drivers and creatively assess long-term stock winners and losers.
- Exceptional analytical and valuation skills with the capacity to make meaningful connections across a sector.
- A global perspective with strategic and tactical thinking capabilities within the technology sector.
- Commitment to fiduciary responsibility and achieving positive client outcomes while upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
- Strong academic credentials; MBA or CFA/CAIA preferred.
