POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary objective of the CORAL program is to enhance educational outcomes in an after-school environment. Serving a diverse range of schools and community centers, CORAL is dedicated to delivering exceptional literacy support, engaging project-based learning, and STEAM initiatives that align with educational standards. The program aims to fortify children's essential skills while offering a comprehensive and enriching curriculum in literacy, STEAM, and other areas.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the STEAM Program Supervisor, the Creative STEAM After School Educator will play a crucial role in implementing STEAM curricula and programs within the CORAL after-school settings. This educator will design and execute STEAM enrichment activities, focusing on elevating academic performance in small group settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and deliver engaging STEAM lessons and activities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance STEAM teaching methodologies.
  • Instruct, guide, and oversee school-aged children.
  • Track daily attendance and manage data entry tasks.
  • Conduct home visits as necessary.
  • Encourage student participation in all program activities.
  • Create age-appropriate programming tailored to children's needs.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
  • Actively engage as a positive role model for students.
  • Demonstrate courteous and supportive behavior towards children, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Report any behavioral issues or incidents to the STEAM Program Supervisor.
  • Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain responsibility for equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of program areas.
  • Travel between various school sites to deliver quality STEAM programming.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CORAL program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the following areas:
    • General Science, Mathematics, and Arts.
    • Technology & Engineering - Familiarity with block-based coding languages and a willingness to learn new STEAM teaching strategies.
    • Lesson planning and execution.
    • Classroom management skills.
    • Experience in academic tutoring.
    • Understanding of safety and risk management in child-centered programs.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children.
  • Experience in diverse communities, particularly in underperforming schools and low-income areas.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and engage in physical activities with students.
  • Willingness to travel between school locations.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent experience; or
  • Associate's degree or at least 48 college credits; or
  • Qualifications for an instructional aide as per local education authority policy; or
  • High School diploma or GED.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fingerprint background clearance via LiveScan.
  • Submission of TB test results.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including booster status.
