Patient Service Representative

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Saint Alphonsus Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and families in a warm and welcoming manner
- Register patients for appointments and complete necessary paperwork
- Verify and update patient and insurance information
- Notify providers of patient arrivals and delays
- Collect and communicate patient balances and responsible payments
- Maintain knowledge of different payer practices and deductibles
- Assist patients with financial assistance paperwork
- Control credit extended to patients via payment plans
- Maintain a neat and organized work area, including the reception area
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Previous customer service experience required; healthcare experience preferred
- Electronic health record (EHR) experience a plus
- Medical terminology preferred
- Experience with process improvement or lean philosophy preferred
