Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for patients, while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification, demographic information, and insurance coverage
  • Enter patient information accurately into the hospital information system
  • Refer patients with questions regarding financial liability to the appropriate resource
  • Process key documents to facilitate obtaining insurance information
  • Provide payment estimates for out-of-pocket costs
  • Educate patients/families on the use of registration kiosks or online systems
  • Identify routine issues and escalate to Supervisor, Patient Access
  • Process insurance claim forms
  • Review claims/accounts for complete information, correct and complete forms to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain all appropriate claim files and follow up on suspended or outstanding claims
  • Identify, research, and resolve issues related to coordination of benefits, subrogation, and general inquiry issues
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Prior work experience performing customer service activities within a hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization, or other healthcare financial setting preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations, and billing processes and/or managed care contracts and coordination of benefits preferred
