As a Senior Academic Facilitator, you will serve as the primary contact during program hours for students, guardians, and educational staff. You will oversee student attendance and manage the sign-in and dismissal processes. Communication with guardians and school staff regarding student engagement and updates will be a key responsibility.

In the event of unusual occurrences or emergencies, you will take charge and ensure that all program-related challenges are promptly reported to the Program Supervisor.


Your role involves working closely with elementary, middle, and/or high school students to help them master grade-level academic content in small group settings.

You will assist students with their class assignments, projects, test preparation, or skill enhancement based on their needs and/or guidance from teachers.

As a Senior Academic Facilitator, you will act as a positive role model, coach, and mentor, demonstrating a sincere commitment to the academic progress and educational success of students.

You will also ensure that students adhere to program expectations and apply the approved behavior management strategies as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee student check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Assist the Program Supervisor with logistical operations.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of student attendance.
  • Manage communication via the site phone.
  • Liaise with guardians and school staff regarding student involvement and progress in the program.
  • Lead responses to any unusual incidents and ensure adherence to incident and emergency protocols.
  • Implement the approved behavior management strategies for students.
  • Provide both small group and individualized academic support for students.
  • Utilize AVID strategies to assist students in setting goals, developing work habits, and enhancing skills to improve their academic performance.
  • Foster an engaging environment that promotes a sense of belonging among students.
  • Serve as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor, showing a genuine interest in the academic growth and educational success of students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units OR a Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing Standard English suitable for a public-school environment.
  • Minimum age requirement of 22.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with groups of 10 or more students in educational or recreational settings.
  • Strong skills in Advanced Math and English (grades 6-12).
  • Excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal).
  • Support for our English-learner population by being bi-literate (Spanish preferred).

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Successfully pass a Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
  • Provide a clear TB test result.
  • Pass Advanced Math and English skills assessments (K-8).
