Title: After School Learners Club Program Assistant

Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include college coursework or relevant experience in recreation, youth services, or education. Enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine desire to work with children are essential. A successful background check is required, along with training in CPR/First Aid, Child Abuse prevention, and Communicable Diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Site Director and Tutors in delivering the After School 21st Century program.
  • Support student academic achievement through effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Lead and facilitate enrichment and recreational activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
  • Oversee meal preparation and supervise students during activities.
  • Ensure the safe arrival and departure of all program participants.
  • Foster communication with parents and school staff to provide support and resources.

Additional Duties:

  • Engage positively with children, staff, and parents.
  • Attend to the individual needs of children.
  • Adhere to YMCA dress code and policies.
  • Understand and comply with child care licensing regulations.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting values of honesty, caring, responsibility, and respect.
  • Assist in accommodating children with special needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
