What is the role of a Global Logistics Operations Leader?

The Global Logistics Operations Leader is tasked with supervising and enhancing the execution of logistics functions on a worldwide scale. This position emphasizes managing the team's financial performance, fostering client relationships, and achieving long-term departmental objectives. The leader will work closely with cross-functional teams, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive process enhancements to improve overall logistics efficiency.

Position Overview:

Classification: Full-Time; Salaried exempt, leadership role

Compensation: Competitive annual salary

Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday

Physical Requirements: Office-based tasks including sitting and typing

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, economics, management information systems, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or transportation.
  3. Proven ability to create and deliver impactful presentations to executive stakeholders.
  4. Familiarity with supply chain systems and applications (ERP, TMS, and WMS).
  5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  6. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Consulting experience with a focus on supply chain and logistics.
  • Experience in the energy or aerospace & defense sectors.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS.
  • Background in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess logistics performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process optimizations to improve the effectiveness of logistics operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure team success.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and trade regulations, proactively addressing any compliance issues.
  • Manage escalations, facilitating prompt issue resolution within the department.
  • Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate logistics performance, key insights, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in logistics and supply chain management, implementing innovative solutions to enhance operations.
  • Oversee team leaders and daily operations for relevant clients, assisting with coaching, employee development, and performance management.
  • Travel to client locations as necessary and participate in business development activities.
  • Manage billing, profit and loss, and financial responsibilities for relevant clients.
  • Contribute to publications and marketing initiatives.
  • Act as a backup to senior leadership as required.
  • Engage in sales, marketing, and business development efforts, managing IT projects and other special initiatives.
