Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively, adhering to Orion180's operational standards and safety protocols. The following competencies are crucial:

Strategic Financial Leadership: Formulate and execute financial strategies that align with the company's long-term growth and profitability goals. Collaborate with the executive team to ensure financial planning is in sync with business objectives and strategic initiatives. Provide financial guidance during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic endeavors.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market dynamics. Manage the creation and upkeep of financial models to facilitate forecasting and scenario analysis. Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, offering variance analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.

Financial Analysis and Reporting: Produce timely and precise financial reports and analyses for senior management and the board of directors. Evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and provide insights to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal controls while supporting the Accounting team during the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing FP&A team, cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Establish clear performance objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and support the professional growth of team members. Streamline and enhance existing processes and workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key liaison between finance and other departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment on financial matters. Collaborate with external stakeholders, including investors, analysts, and auditors, to provide relevant financial information and address inquiries.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required.
  • An MBA or professional designation (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position, ideally within the insurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory requirements and environment of the insurance industry in the United States.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing financial strategies that enhance business performance.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Outstanding leadership and team management abilities, with experience in building and guiding high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively engaging and influencing senior executives and other stakeholders.
