About the Role

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Credentialing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Medical Staff Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our credentialing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform credentialing process for new appointments and biennial reappointments of employed physicians and advance practice clinicians
  • Maintain credentialing database and ensure compliance with JCAHO, CMS, and contractual agreements
  • Assume responsibility for administration and medical legal aspects of employed physicians
  • Coordinate medical staff committee meetings and perform administrative functions as an assistant to the Director of Medical Staff Services
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of business experience at the level of administrative assistant
  • Preferred experience in medical staff services/credentialing or healthcare-related field
Preferred Skills
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent will not be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissue and will not be required to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
