Position Overview:
The current opening is within the Department of Transportation, specifically in the Highways Division.

Compensation:
Monthly salary ranges from $4,690 to $5,713 (SR-20, Step D to I).

This role is situated in the Accounting Systems and Procedures Section of the Staff Services Office within the Highways Division.

The incumbent will be tasked with performing analyses and engaging in the development, execution, and upkeep of the Highways accounting system, ensuring alignment with fiscal controls, recordkeeping, reporting necessities, and statewide accounting standards. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the creation, revision, and maintenance of the accounting and procedures manual for the Highways accounting system.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage in the assessment and categorization of financial data for budgeting and management purposes.
2. Conduct investigative studies to evaluate and analyze the fiscal and reporting requirements across various management levels.
3. Analyze accounting and financial reporting obligations.
4. Prepare system documentation, including operational procedures.
5. Facilitate user training sessions.

Qualifications:
Education:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution, including at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.


Professional Accounting Experience:

A minimum of one and a half years of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience, which may include teaching accounting at the university level.


Systems Accounting Experience:
At least one year of experience in systems accounting, which may involve:
A. Participation as a team member in the development and/or implementation of an integrated accounting system or involvement in major analyses of existing accounting procedures and operations, leading to the establishment of an integrated system; or
B. Experience that includes responsibility for or participation in the maintenance and oversight of an accounting system, addressing accounting issues through system enhancements and providing guidance to operations or fund control accountants regarding the system or in the establishment of subsystems.
