The Academy of Warren is in search of an enthusiastic Director of Student Engagement to enhance our community. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the engagement initiatives aimed at connecting with Jewish students within our educational environment. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, your mission will be to cultivate relationships with students while orchestrating programs that foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Strategy
- Design and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy that promotes community among diverse Jewish student groups.
- Work collaboratively with student leaders and various segments of the student body to nurture positive relationships and establish personal connections.
- Oversee the creation of varied programming for Jewish students, engaging those who may be less involved with meaningful opportunities.
- Develop an effective student leadership framework to address the needs of students and programming.
Community and Stakeholder Relations
- Alongside the Executive Director, communicate the vision of Jewish life to all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, Board members, alumni, and partner organizations.
- Act as a representative of the Jewish community within the educational institution.
- Collaborate with staff and students to promote pluralistic, inclusive, and innovative Jewish programming.
- Establish effective communication channels for student engagement and program promotion.
Leadership and Management
- Supervise engagement interns and student leaders, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional development.
- Conduct bi-annual evaluations of the engagement team to assess achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Facilitate weekly planning meetings focused on engagement initiatives.
Educational Contributions
- Collaborate with the Student-Facing team to create a pluralistic, inclusive, and innovative Jewish environment for students.
Inspiring Jewish Identity
- Promote a welcoming and pluralistic atmosphere.
- Engage actively in Jewish experiences for both personal and professional development.
- Encourage meaningful discussions surrounding Jewish life and identity.
- Develop innovative Jewish experiences that enhance students' identities.
- Provide comprehensive education on Jewish traditions, holidays, culture, and Israel, ensuring a variety of perspectives are represented.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Confidence in initiating and managing projects, with a willingness to ask questions.
- A passion for motivating student leaders to engage their peers and deepen their Jewish identities.
- A commitment to pluralism and a strong sense of Jewish identity to serve as a role model for emerging Jewish adults.
- Preferred supervisory experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities.
- Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
