Controller - Operations

Diablo Convoy is seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead our accounting operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing the various accounting functions for multiple companies, utilizing your deep knowledge of accounting and the oil & gas industry to guide the team to accomplish its objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee and manage the accounting department's daily operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, revenue, production accounting, joint interest billing, payroll, income taxes, and other accounting functions.
  • Financial Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal financial controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Tax Management: Assist the Tax Manager with providing tax information on a timely and accurate basis and support during audits of the organization.
  • Cash Management: Lead and/or assist with the cash management functions of the organization, ensuring all bank accounts are reconciled timely and accurate information is provided for cash projections.
  • Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and the monthly variance analysis of the Company's budget.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), COPAS, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations while seeking to automate workflows and reporting wherever possible.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement process improvements as necessary.
  • Team Management: Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or similar from an accredited University.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of accounting experience in the upstream oil and gas industry and 4+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with intermediate-to-advanced computer skills and experience with software and analytics tools.
