The Customer Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in delivering outstanding service and meeting sales objectives by assisting patrons with inquiries regarding the products and services available at Dark Horse Comics. Our associates are expected to maintain a professional demeanor both in-store and online, embodying our principles of inclusivity, respect, and enjoyment.

Candidates who possess excellent communication skills and can create a welcoming atmosphere for customers will excel in this position. You will identify customer needs, provide insightful answers about our offerings, and suggest solutions tailored to those needs. A positive outlook and a commitment to resolving customer concerns swiftly will be key to your success in this role. Effectively addressing complaints is essential; transforming a dissatisfied customer into a happy one while adhering to company guidelines requires a blend of empathy and tact.

Another significant responsibility includes ensuring the sales floor, merchandise, signage, and displays are well-presented. Ultimately, Customer Engagement Specialists guarantee that customers leave satisfied and contribute to the store's profitability by maintaining an organized, visually appealing environment and achieving or surpassing sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit professionalism in all interactions, both in-store and online.
  • Remain vigilant to ensure the safety of the store and its products.
  • Welcome and assist customers in locating suitable products.
  • Achieve sales targets through consultative selling and cross-selling techniques.
  • Efficiently operate the cash register, including processing promotions, returns, and other transactions.
  • Manage customer pull boxes with accuracy and promptness.
  • Stay updated on products, store events, and policies to provide accurate information.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding specific products and events.
  • Maintain orderly displays and ensure all merchandise is fully stocked.
  • Consistently follow daily tasks focusing on cleanliness and merchandising to keep the store appealing.
  • Be flexible to work at various locations and adapt to irregular shifts as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Encourage an inclusive community atmosphere that fosters fun and creativity for all customers.
  • Engage customers authentically, understanding their needs and interests while assisting them in finding desired products.
  • Conduct yourself courteously and ethically in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, especially in the absence of direct instructions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with comics and pop culture, along with a passion for at least one specific area of fandom.
  • Exhibit accountability, empathy, and situational awareness.
  • Possess at least one year of experience in customer service and retail.
  • Enjoy working with the public and demonstrate motivation, energy, organization, and reliability.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Be comfortable engaging with the public and open to continuous improvement.
  • Display strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Possess efficient data entry and typing skills.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. comfortably.
This is a full-time position shared between multiple locations.
