Senior Specialist, Software Project Engineer

Job Description:

L3Harris has an immediate opening for a Lead Project Engineer to support the Space & Intel software products in development efforts.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for leading a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in our growing space business area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for a range of software development as well as integration efforts utilizing Agile Methodology and tools
  • Responsible for successfully leading a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments in a growing business area
  • Develops, oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer
  • Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports
  • Assesses engineering issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Identifies, tracks, mitigates, manages, and disposes of program-level risks and opportunities
  • Estimates resource and material needs for the project/product
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received
  • Understands how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV), and manage a project using the Earned Value Indicators
  • Participates in small teams and performs a wide variety of tasks
  • Participates in a collaborative team environment on quick reaction projects and has regular contact with customers
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS) and Microsoft Project
  • Experience with project engineering and program execution, and managing multi-discipline programs across multiple locations
  • Experience in hardware/software integration programs
  • Experience managing projects with budgets of $30M+
  • Experience with Technical Supplier Management, Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Experience with managing Agile SW development programs including using Confluence
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with Agile PLM
  • Experience leading Government Contract development programs
  • Experience in Government contract acquisition lifecycle a plus
  • Experience with management of design to cost activities
  • Experience with program, pursuit and proposal activities
