Occupational Overview

The role involves a variety of responsibilities associated with the management of parking for special events and the implementation of traffic flow plans. This includes assembling and disassembling equipment, creating intricate signage packages with distribution strategies, maintaining an inventory of equipment and signs, and generating post orders for contracted personnel. The position also requires providing exceptional customer service to attendees and assisting the Special Events Manager by supervising event staff on-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and oversee event personnel before, during, and after events, ensuring accurate logs of contractor hours for billing purposes.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, making real-time decisions based on established policies, prior experience, and sound judgment.
  • Conduct briefings before events and debriefings afterward with contract staff regarding event plans.
  • Foster strong working relationships with event organizers, university colleagues, and community leaders. Design signage packages for various event sizes.
  • Ensure sufficient inventory of materials, including vinyl, coroplast, A-frames, cones, and barricades.
  • Maintain detailed logs of sign production costs, quantities of materials used, and other relevant data.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely distribution and retrieval of equipment and signage.
  • Repair and maintain special events equipment as necessary, including cleaning and upkeep of A-frames, barricades, and cones. Complete incident reports as required.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education/Training: A general educational background equivalent to a high school diploma is required. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. One year of experience in an event support environment is necessary, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with strong communication and customer service skills.
