Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and contributing to the overall success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct communication with the Department Director and/or House Supervisor regarding patient care events and risk management activities.
  • Utilize nursing personnel effectively, assisting with scheduling, staffing, and assignments.
  • Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of staff, as well as staff education and training.
  • Assist with performance evaluations, progressive discipline, and other HR activities as needed.
  • Assess supplies and equipment availability, ensuring proper use and functionality, and assist with daily maintenance of par levels.
  • Collaborate with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services and efficient patient flow.
Requirements
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, E.D. setting preferred.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED, MICN, within 12 months of hire.
  • EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 & 2 within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year ENPC preferred.
  • Non-OB facilities: Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days upon hire.
