Healthcare Unit Supervisor

Healthcare Unit Supervisors are responsible for managing patient care, leading nursing teams, and ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations. They play a crucial role in recruiting, training, and overseeing nursing staff, while also maintaining a safe and compliant working environment that prioritizes quality care.

- Uphold nursing standards and operational procedures

- Direct nursing personnel
- Fulfill patient care obligations
- Foster a supportive and compassionate atmosphere
- Encourage patient autonomy
- Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team
- Address and resolve patient concerns
- Ensure a safe and hygienic workplace
- Safeguard the well-being of patients and staff
- Document patient care activities
- Meet financial performance targets
- Ensure functionality of medical and administrative equipment
- Manage inventory of nursing supplies
- Stay informed on current healthcare practices
- Collaborate with healthcare teams
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) preferred
- Basic computer proficiency
- At least 5 years of nursing experience
- A minimum of 1 year in a supervisory nursing role
- CPR/BLS certification
- Comprehensive understanding of nursing and medical protocols
Supervisory Duties:
- Oversee nursing staff and their activities
Work Environment:
- Operates within a healthcare facility
- Potential exposure to infectious agents
- Extended working hours may be required
- Availability during emergency situations is necessary
