Clinical Nurse Educator

Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a pivotal role in developing and delivering educational initiatives tailored for nursing staff at Ellis Medicine. This position encompasses the creation of comprehensive training programs, including orientation, in-service training, and ongoing professional development opportunities for nurses across various skill levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Program Coordinator for orientation and staff training initiatives.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments in collaboration with departmental leaders and staff.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of regulatory requirements influencing educational activities.
- Evaluate individual learner's development and needs, providing mentorship and support.
- Facilitate integration of new hires through regular rounds and check-ins.
- Monitor staff development and skill proficiency within assigned units.
- Design course content that aligns with regulatory standards and hospital needs.
- Utilize diverse teaching methodologies to engage learners effectively.
- Establish key quality indicators and develop evaluation methods to assess program outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of educational activities, including attendance and course evaluations.
- Collaborate with other educators to enhance program development and planning.
- Participate actively in departmental and interdepartmental committees, contributing to policy and procedure development.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth, identifying personal learning needs and pursuing relevant educational opportunities.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a degree from an accredited nursing program and hold a valid registered nurse license in New York State. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required, while a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care environment, with prior teaching or leadership experience being advantageous.
Physical Requirements: The role involves working indoors under standard conditions, requiring the ability to lift and move patients and equipment as necessary. Candidates should be capable of performing tasks that require manual dexterity and coordination.
