The Clinical Nursing Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all clinical administrative functions within the nursing unit on a continuous basis, fostering an environment that promotes autonomy and supports a skilled workforce dedicated to delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to strategize, implement, and evaluate the nursing care delivery framework, ensuring optimal utilization of staff and resources.
• Develop and confirm daily staff assignments that align with skill levels and patient care requirements.
• Ensure adequate nursing personnel are scheduled to meet patient care demands through proactive resource analysis.
• Engage with staff to assess the effectiveness of existing systems, focusing on continuous improvement and care continuity.
• Champion patient and family-centered care across diverse populations by upholding exceptional care standards.
• Manage attendance and punctuality in accordance with established policies.
• Work with Human Resources on staff disciplinary matters as needed.
• Assess and reassign staff to effectively meet unit and organizational needs.
• Foster an environment that encourages staff participation in performance improvement initiatives to meet or exceed care standards.
• Stay informed about nationally recognized care standards and evidence-based practices relevant to the populations served.
• Provide education to staff regarding current and new policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, maintaining the overall quality of patient care.
• Identify and address potential risk management issues, implementing action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration among all healthcare team members, establishing strong professional relationships.
Qualifications:
• Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in New York State and have graduated from an accredited nursing program. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, with a Master’s degree preferred or in progress.
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in acute care settings is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and problem-solving capabilities are essential.
• Demonstrated commitment to enhancing institutional performance through interdisciplinary teamwork is crucial.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs, perform manual tasks such as typing and filing, and maintain mobility for extended periods.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
