Job Description

We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our team at Blue Collar Services. As a General Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. This includes HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, masonry, flooring, and hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform minor repairs to building equipment and systems, including drywall touch-up painting and patching walls, trim, and ceilings.
  • Replace floor tiles and carpet squares, ceiling tiles, and wall panels.
  • Hang and move pictures and white boards, fix holes, and make minor concrete repairs.
  • Replace broken windowpanes, hang doors, and install new handles, locks, and push bars.
  • Install replacement electrical receptacles, wires, and switches, and install replacement electrical fixtures, motors, and fans.
  • Perform minor repairs and change bulbs/tubes on light fixtures.
  • Install replacement plumbing fixtures, verify operational status of plumbing equipment, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Install replacement parts on plumbing assets and make minor repairs to plumbing in bathrooms and showers.
  • Use a small snake to clear minor drains, like those in sinks, toilets, and bathroom floor drains.
  • General maintenance on HVAC equipment, such as changing filters and belts, and cleaning system components.
  • Replace minor parts like motors and fans, and assist Electricians, HVAC technicians, and Plumbers with major repairs and installations.
  • Follow instructions when working under the supervision of Tradespeople, work safely, and perform project housekeeping duties.
  • Perform General Duties, including moving furniture, tools, materials, and other heavy items, receiving and documenting deliveries of project materials and parts, organizing contractor workspaces and mechanical rooms, and keeping work areas clean.
  • Maintain standards of conduct, background check, drug-free workplace, and ability to accurately document and report on services performed.
  • Dedicated to safety in the workplace.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Mid-level tradesperson with (3) three years of related building maintenance experience.
  • Experience focused on drywall and painting is preferred.
  • Must be able to acquire a CFC Universal.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Federal Public Trust Clearance for badge (OASAM).
  • Pass background and pre-employment drug screen which includes marijuana as we are a federal contractor.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to perform manual labor that requires standing or walking/moving up to 85% of the time, as well as working on ladders over twelve (12) feet, crouching, bending, and accessing constricted spaces.
  • Reach and pull to work on equipment; and to use hands, arms, and legs in using tools and materials.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects more than forty (40) pounds.
  • Ability to smell unusual odors relating to chemicals and equipment operation systems.
