SUMMARY
The Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for a range of tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of machinery within a facility that focuses on the production of sauces, dressings, marinades, and other liquid consumables. Key responsibilities include maintaining and optimizing existing machinery, ensuring the integrity of the overall plant and building infrastructure, providing technical assistance to various departments (such as sales, production, quality assurance, and research & development), managing spare parts inventory and vendor relationships, and supervising the execution, completion, and inspection of work orders performed by external contractors. All activities must comply with the policies and procedures established by SSS Of Parma, as well as FDA, USDA, and other relevant auditing standards, while fostering a safe and ergonomic workplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Operating, starting up, shutting down, assembling, disassembling, and changing over all production machinery.
- Troubleshooting equipment failures and devising corrective measures to prevent future downtime.
- Implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all production and warehouse machinery.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting basic electrical systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), potentiometers, emergency stops, and overload protection systems, which may interface with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or other human-machine interfaces (HMIs).
- Maintaining and troubleshooting basic pneumatic systems, including regulators, pneumatic-to-electric converters, lubrication applicators, actuators, four-way manifolds, solenoids, and needle valves, which may also interface with PLCs or HMIs.
- Collecting and analyzing data related to equipment performance, breakdowns, repairs, and utility consumption.
- Assisting in the training of new line operators and cross-training existing production staff and supervisors.
- Operating electric tow motors, electric pallet jacks, and scissor lifts.
- Reading and interpreting equipment operation and service manuals.
- Understanding and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Lock Out/Tag Out protocols, USDA regulations, and FDA regulations.
- Exhibiting excellent communication skills and working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two to four years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, self-motivated, dependable, and responsible, with a passion for new challenges and opportunities. A strong attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks thoroughly and on time is essential. Knowledge of pneumatic, electrical, and steam systems, as well as their components, liquid pumps (both positive displacement and centrifugal), PLCs, HMIs, electric motors, and gearboxes is necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The candidate must be able to read, analyze, and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, electrical and pneumatic schematics, business publications, and governmental regulations. Effective presentation of information and responsiveness to inquiries from customers, staff, and management is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical and mechanical concepts, including probability, electricity, pneumatics, steam, and measurements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to talk or hear. Regular standing, stooping, kneeling, and walking are required. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is typically quiet, fast-paced, and confined. Frequent exposure to heat from machinery and products is expected, with occasional exposure to cooler temperatures from refrigeration units.
