Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Biology Instructor to join our faculty as a tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of biology and chemistry courses, including General Biology, Principles of Biology, and Chemistry in Our Community. The position requires a strong commitment to teaching, working with diverse student populations, and the community and technical college mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of biology and chemistry courses, including laboratory components.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to support student learning and success.
  • Use Canvas for communication and feedback, curriculum development, course design and delivery, and student outcome assessment.
  • Maintain an emphasis on student success and retention through active and collaborative learning strategies, regular office hours, student advising, institutional service/committee work, community service, and professional development.
  • Work to actively build Biology and related STEM programs, including curriculum development, participating at relevant Open House and Admissions events, grant procurement, and related activities.
Requirements
  • A master's degree or higher in an appropriate discipline or closely related field with a minimum of 12 hours of upper division coursework in subject matter from an accredited institution.
  • Experience and interest in working with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to successfully and efficiently use word processing, basic internet applications, basic database navigation, and a learning management system.
  • Ability to teach face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid formats.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in related fields.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience working at a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
  • At least two years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
  • Experience teaching at a public two-year, community college.
  • Experience managing classroom labs, budgets, and supply orders.
  • Experience with program evaluation and assessment.
