Position: Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Marshall, MI (On-Site)

Job Overview:

In response to the growing demand in the electric vehicle sector within the United States, Comrise is seeking several proficient Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure quality oversight throughout the production process while collaborating closely with suppliers. This role encompasses the management of quality challenges, coordination with suppliers, and the assurance that all products adhere to our rigorous quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Site Quality Coordination:

• Supervise and facilitate the resolution of quality issues at the production site concerning new materials and structural components.

2. On-Site Quality Liaison:

• Serve as the main on-site contact for addressing material quality concerns.

• Formulate and execute strategies to manage substandard incoming materials, taking into account manufacturing processes and customer feedback.

• Collaborate with suppliers to conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness within the designated timeframe.

3. Development of Containment Plans:

• Engage in the creation and execution of containment strategies to handle non-conforming materials and ensure uninterrupted production.

4. Management of APQP and PPAP:

• Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to identify and mitigate risks and issues during component development.

• Involve in the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to confirm that components satisfy all quality and performance criteria prior to mass production.

5. Support for Customer Audits:

• Assist relevant departments in preparing for and executing customer audits.

• Ensure compliance with all quality standards and customer specifications during audit processes.

6. Training for SQE Team:

• Responsible for educating the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team on quality standards, protocols, and best practices for structural components.

• Ensure the team is well-prepared to address supplier quality challenges and uphold high standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier quality management, specifically within the automotive manufacturing sector.

• Familiarity with ISO9000, TS16949, and VDA quality frameworks.

• Proficient in utilizing quality analysis and enhancement tools such as FMEA, FTA, 8D, Six Sigma, and SPC.

• Strong analytical and data processing skills.

• Proficient in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance.

• Capability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to navigate work environments, which may involve walking, standing, and climbing.

• Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, especially when inspecting installations or troubleshooting.

• Capacity to lift and carry moderate weights, typically between 25-50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier items.

• Ability to work in various settings, including offices, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.

• Willingness and ability to travel to different job sites, which may require driving or other forms of transportation.
