Job Summary

JEO's Transportation Department offers specialized services including traffic engineering, transportation planning, roadway and bridge design, and environmental consulting.

The Traffic Engineer role presents an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and contribute to our traffic engineering initiatives.

This position is supported by a team of professionals dedicated to managing successful projects and tasks that not only meet client expectations but also align with JEO's financial objectives.

The ideal candidate will assist in client management and business development efforts while helping to expand our traffic engineering group in Iowa.


Responsibilities and Duties

• Proven experience as a project manager, including direct oversight of a project team and accountability for meeting client expectations.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.

• Experience in preparing project proposals, scopes of services, and cost estimates across a diverse range of project types.

• Proficient in managing budgets, schedules, bids, contracts, funding requests, and communication plans.

• Ability to cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships.

• Conduct technical traffic analyses for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities using various software programs and analysis methodologies as required.

• Prepare and present reports showcasing excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Develop traffic maintenance plans and design/construction documents to ensure traffic flow during construction of transportation improvements.

• Create design and construction documents for permanent signage, pavement markings, traffic signals, and communications infrastructure based on national standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation engineering.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering sector focusing on transportation projects, including traffic operations, planning, and design elements.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic design.

• PTOE certification.
