ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Estimation Manager is accountable for establishing processes and systems that guide the estimation team in managing the estimation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects. This role involves leading discussions with project stakeholders and ensuring that all estimation activities align with organizational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Direct and oversee the estimation team to effectively prepare bids for solar EPC projects, ensuring they meet both company objectives and client expectations.
  • Estimation Process Management
    • Supervise the entire estimation workflow from the initial project requirement assessment to the final bid submission, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans for efficient estimation processes.
    • Set timelines for departments to ensure timely reviews of pre-bid meetings and pricing of materials.
  • Cost Analysis
    • Perform comprehensive cost analysis and feasibility assessments for potential projects, considering labor, materials, equipment, and profit margins.
    • Create unit pricing models based on production rates and subcontractor quotes.
    • Compile and analyze historical pricing data and productivity reports to inform future estimates.
  • Bid Preparation
    • Draft detailed bid proposals and tender documents that outline project scope, deliverables, timelines, and costs.
    • Evaluate plans, specifications, and vendor proposals to develop accurate estimates.
    • Ensure compliance with all necessary licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify and assess potential risks associated with projects, developing strategies to mitigate them and enhance profitability.
    • Conduct site evaluations and review relevant documentation to determine project feasibility.
  • Vendor Management
    • Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and resource availability.
  • Technical Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineering and design teams to ensure cost estimates align with technical specifications.
  • Client Engagement
    • Engage in client meetings to present cost estimates and address project requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Implement best practices and standardize estimation procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Budget Oversight
    • Monitor project budgets during the estimation phase, providing updates and recommendations to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of professional estimating experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years in the PV utility sector.
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with estimating software such as HeavyBid or Accubid.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Professional office setting with a noise level ranging from low to moderate.
  • Potential exposure to construction sites with moderate to high noise levels.
