Position Overview:
The Commercial Appraisal Officer plays a crucial role in the Utah County Assessor's Office, which is tasked with the classification of all properties within the county. This position involves collaborating with the Recorder's office to associate ownership with properties, determining taxable values for all properties subject to taxation, and compiling essential data for reports utilized by the Auditor's office for tax rate calculations and the Treasurer's office for collections.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Deputy County Assessor, the incumbent will:
- Coordinate training and development for commercial appraisal trainees.
- Organize and execute duties related to Board of Equalization procedures, including defending property valuations and representing the county in local and state hearings.
Compensation:
The starting salary for this position is as follows:
Grade 728 Step A: $82,000
Step G: $94,764.80 Annually
Standard working hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree is required.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of appraisal experience, including at least two (2) years as a Certified General Appraiser.
Additional Requirements:
1. Candidates must hold certification as a Certified General Appraiser with the Utah State Department of Commerce.
2. Incumbents must obtain the General Ad Valorem Appraiser designation from the Utah State Tax Commission within twenty-four (24) months of employment.
3. A valid driver's license is required, with the necessity to obtain a valid State of Utah driver's license within sixty (60) days of employment.
4. Selected candidates will undergo a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
