Bergen Logistics is on a growth trajectory, and we are in search of a dedicated Finance Operations Manager. This role is pivotal in establishing robust accounting frameworks and processes that will facilitate our expanding operations in the United States. The ideal candidate will be flexible in their responsibilities to ensure comprehensive financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the month-end financial closing process, ensuring accurate recording of revenues and expenses, and completion of balance sheet reconciliations across various entities.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of the general ledger to maintain the integrity of financial statements.
  • Manage daily cash and banking transactions, collaborating on the reconfiguration and implementation of financial systems, and overseeing order-to-cash accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of daily and monthly banking operations, including cash management, credit card processing, and statement reconciliations.
  • Ensure the monthly bank reconciliation process is executed accurately within the financial system.
  • Maintain thorough records for accruals and prepayments, validated through supervisory reviews of expense and insurance schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports on revenue and operating expenditures, providing insights and analyses of business drivers for cost control and optimization.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the reporting processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support the preparation of year-end and statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards, and facilitating a smooth audit process.
  • Provide support for timely and effective audits.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a scalable and efficient accounting function.
  • Manage monthly financial closing activities, procedures, and account reconciliations.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting and financial reporting, along with internal controls.
  • Offer strategic support to the management team, including budget development, forecasting, key metrics reporting, and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Assist in the upgrade and implementation of financial systems, including General Ledger, billing, travel and expense, and accounts payable procurement.
  • Record fixed asset transactions, including additions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Support year-end financial statement audits in collaboration with external auditors, as well as any statutory audits that may arise.
  • Adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities as the organization grows.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff in accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong accounting knowledge with proven experience in US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Extensive experience in end-to-end month-end closing processes, functional reporting, cash flow forecasting, and statutory account preparation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to tackle various tasks, from manual processing to larger projects.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently plan and manage work.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate financial records to external stakeholders.
  • Experience with large ERP accounting software (Netsuite is advantageous).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
