Position Title: Production Lead
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Location: Nampa
Shift Details: This role is designated for the A shift, working Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Role Summary:
As the Production Lead at Materne, North America, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Production Supervisor with overseeing daily operations of the production team during your assigned shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the production team throughout a 12-hour shift by maintaining a strong, visible presence in the production area.
- Encourage and mentor team members to adhere to safety protocols, comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and meet production standards while aiming for performance goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Environment.
- Support the Supervisor in maintaining the quality integrity of finished products, making independent operational decisions regarding product compliance when necessary.
- Assist in troubleshooting daily operational challenges and addressing operator needs, escalating issues to the Supervisor or maintenance as required.
- Facilitate effective communication by relaying information between the Supervisor, team members, support departments, and other production lines.
- Coordinate scheduled activities, including start-up, shut-down, mid-week cleaning, and other tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
- Monitor key performance indicators and production flow, utilizing data and operator feedback to recommend improvements in safety, quality, and processes.
- Investigate and ensure accurate reporting of non-compliant materials, maintaining precise production documentation for timely submission to the Quality Department.
- Observe and assess training activities of team members, providing constructive feedback to the Supervisor.
- Ensure adherence to 5S principles and support continuous improvement initiatives, facilitating the implementation of new processes and striving for standardization across shifts and production lines.
- Assist the Supervisor with root-cause analysis related to personnel, processes, and equipment, driving problem-solving initiatives as needed.
- Check employee attendance and collaborate with the Supervisor and other leads to ensure adequate coverage for unplanned absences.
- Assist with employee breaks, ensuring that coverage is provided by other operators or personally stepping in as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant regulations, promptly reporting any violations or concerns to the Supervisor or Human Resources.
- Support the Supervisor in performance evaluations by providing recommendations for ratings, areas for improvement, and recognition of outstanding performance.
- Arrive before and stay after shifts as necessary to ensure effective communication and coordination between shifts.
- Conduct sensory testing on production lines to verify product quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience as a trainer, lead, or Supervisor in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Effective communication skills in English (verbal, reading, writing).
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to successfully complete training for acidified food production during onboarding.
- Demonstrated proficiency in intermediate math calculations.
- Capability to analyze data and information to make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in basic computer functions and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and diffuse tense situations professionally.
- Comfort in enforcing policies and performance standards.
- Strong communication skills for group settings and clear direction.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Ability to achieve and maintain at least a Level 2 Qualification in primary production operator roles.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and remain on feet for extended periods.
