Emergency Department Technician Advanced

The ED Tech Advanced provides patient care and operational support for patients in the Emergency Department during varying states of health and illness. This role functions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team and must be able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including performing activities of daily living (ADL's), obtaining clinical data, and utilizing universal precautions.
Start intravenous lines with saline lock and administer intravenous fluid (normal saline or lactated ringers) with a physician order.
Perform intramuscular injections, deliver medications sublingually via nebulizers, intravenously or intranasal as allowed by NH Statewide Treatment Protocols.
Apply splints and immobilizers, remove IV's after completion of competencies.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, restock patient rooms, supply carts, and equipment units.
Assist visitors, volunteers, and patient family/friends, and mentor new co-workers to the unit.
Assist in monitoring and/or caring of patients who require close observation (suicidal/elopement risks, patients in restraints and/or seclusion).
Perform administrative functions, including answering phones, faxing, managing critical communication, and prioritizing tasks during periods of high stress.
Manage patient health information and electronic medical records.
Requirements
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a chaotic environment.
Demonstrated customer service skills and keyboarding skills.
National Registered (EMT-A) Emergency Medical Technician Advanced certification from the New Hampshire Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (NHBEMS) required.
Basic Life Support (current) certification required.
High school graduate or equivalent required.
