Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Resource Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide direct instructional support to teachers in Indigenous Language bilingual programs, promoting academic excellence and cultural preservation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement demonstration lessons for Native American Language Arts and/or ELD teachers, ensuring alignment with district curriculum standards.
  • Collaborate with school staff to design, implement, and assess Indigenous language bilingual language curriculum and delivery, incorporating traditional tribal values and principles.
  • Participate in district committees and task forces, contributing expertise in Indigenous education and language development.
  • Assist teachers in identified programs with language acquisition strategies, instructional planning, and curriculum development, ensuring effective implementation of best practices and technologies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in bilingual education or a related field, with a focus on Indigenous language and culture.
  • Valid New Mexico Teacher's license and NM Native American Language and Culture (NALC) certificate.
  • Three years of experience working with predominantly Native American students in an elementary or secondary school setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching the Zuni language in high school settings.
  • Knowledge of indigenous education programs, language development, and bilingual literacy development.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
