Job Summary

Houston Methodist Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for preventing, recognizing, assessing, managing, treating, and reconditioning athletic injuries under the direction of a physician licensed in this state or another qualified, licensed health professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prevent and treat athletic injuries in accordance with athletic training practice act and in collaboration with providers.
  • Document patient assessments and treatment notes accurately.
  • Work in an integrated manner with the health team in the provision of exercise and treatment modalities.
  • Provide safe, effective athletic training appropriate to the patient's ability and injury based upon the relevant evidence-based practice.
  • Prepare patients for practice and competition through the appropriate utilization of braces, bandages, wrapping and taping techniques to prevent injury.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • State licensure as an Athletic Trainer or Temporary State Licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a sports medicine setting.
  • Knowledge of athletic training practice act and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
