Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Documentation Specialist/Coder III to join our team at KPC Global MSO. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for conducting clinically based concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records to ensure accurate and compliant documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough reviews of medical records to evaluate clinical documentation and reimbursement compliance
  • Work closely with medical staff to facilitate accurate and complete clinical documentation
  • Abstract and code diagnostic and procedural information for inpatient services and surgery medical records
  • Enter coded data and other abstracted data into electronic information systems
  • Clarify ambiguous documentation and optimize DRG coding
  • Mentor and train coding staff members
  • Participate in chart review projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Medical graduate, PA, RN, LVN, RHIT, or CCS with current valid license/certification and relevant education
  • CCS certification required; CDIP and/or CCDS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience in an acute care setting or 5 years of acute care inpatient coding
  • Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents
  • Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with basic office equipment
