Job Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer - Naval Architect will be responsible for preparing naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical, and electrical engineering basic design calculations using industry-standard software. This role will also involve updating drawings to reflect current vessel configurations, exercising discretion in managing project issues, schedules, and budgets, and performing stability and structural analyses to support fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical, and electrical engineering basic design calculations using industry-standard software.
  • Update drawings to reflect current vessel configurations.
  • Exercise discretion in managing project issues, schedules, and budgets.
  • Perform stability and structural analyses to support fleet operations.
  • Conduct surveys to gather field data and liaise with regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical support for company commercial activity, including completing technical proposals and working with sales and business development representatives.
  • Develop, review, and approve specifications, drawings, plans, sketches, and other information pertaining to construction and commissioning of major modification/conversion projects.
  • Manage project budgets, review and evaluate shipyard/contractor and vendor quotes, and keep track of costs using Company's project accounting tools.
  • Review equipment vendor and contract architect-engineer technical deliverables for compliance with specifications and required installed performance.
  • Prepare project technical presentations and reports to middle and senior management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or an equivalent marine-related technical discipline.
  • Seven to ten or more years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility for the design, construction, repair, and operation of marine vessels.
  • Functional capability in AutoCad, experience using GHS or equivalent stability software, and working knowledge of structural design software such as RISA 3D, Solidworks, Inventor, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of hydrodynamic softwares such as MOSES, WAMIT, or similar.
  • FEA and CFD experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Functional capability in MS Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to get along well with others.

Work Environment:

The Senior Project Engineer - Naval Architect will work in a standard office environment, Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm, excluding travel and overtime. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Potential exists for extensive overtime as required by responsibilities and as directed by supervisor.
