Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY

Pelican Energy is seeking a senior level civil engineer to join our team in the design and development of energy infrastructure across the nation. Pelican is a multidiscipline engineering firm servicing the energy sector including traditional oil and gas infrastructure and the implementation of new carbon capture initiatives.

This position requires a high degree of proficiency and competency in performing structural steel design, structural concrete design and load development in accordance with ASCE 7 for industrial type structures and foundations. The successful candidates will be required to work in a team environment, coordinating with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering disciplines and leading the civil structural design aspects of small to large energy infrastructure projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Position Requirements

  • Have working knowledge of industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Have working knowledge of the following codes required to implement project designs
    1. AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction
    2. ACI (American Concrete Institute)
    3. IBC (International Building Code)
    4. ASCE 7 (American Society of Civil Engineers – Minimum Design Loads)
  • Ability to perform detailed design calculations for:
    1. Pipe racks
    2. Pipe supports
    3. Foundations for pumps, vertical vessels, horizontal vessels and buildings
    4. Platform structures
  • Provide technical input to design processes.
  • Direct civil drafting and design team members in the development of design drawing content.
  • Prepare design specifications and procurement packages.
  • Develop structural support concepts and configurations.
  • Develop site specific design criteria.
  • Evaluate geotechnical reports and coordinate with geotechnical engineers for foundation design.
  • Prepare detailed work scopes and man-hour estimates.
  • Checking of project deliverables vs. design criteria and standards.
  • Provide teaching and supervising of others when necessary.
  • Perform other technical assignments as directed.
  • Participate in interface with client.
  • Keep a focus on “Best for Client”, “Best for Project”, and “Best for Company” (in that order) decisions during project execution

BSCE, PE required, experience with site work development (storm water drainage and detention design and roadway layouts) for industrial sites is a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Civil Engineering from ABET accredited U.S. Institution

Master's Degree Preferred, Field of Study: Civil or Structural Engineering from ABET accredited U.S. Institution

Experience: 7+ years relevant experience

Certifications & Licenses: Professional Engineer License Required
