ROLE SUMMARY:
The Project Tech will support the Project Manager in managing multi-disciplinary engineering and design initiatives with budgets ranging from $50,000 to $5,000,000 within the Oil and Gas, CO2 Capture and Transportation, or Chemical sectors. This role involves assisting in the planning, execution, monitoring, and control of all project elements. The Project Tech will collaborate directly with lead engineering and design teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination across disciplines. A technical background is essential for understanding and assessing the technical aspects of design documents. Building and nurturing client relationships is also a key responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning:
- Engage with the proposal manager to fully grasp stakeholder expectations, project scope, deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Organize initial kickoff meetings with clients to align on project objectives, communication protocols, deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Coordinate the formation of the project team with department heads, including the assignment of the Professional Engineer of record for each discipline.
- Draft detailed scopes of work, design bases, and schedules, validating them with engineering and design teams.
- Ensure engineering design leads formulate execution plans and update project control systems, validating these plans.
Execution:
- Provide leadership and conduct high-level reviews of technical execution.
- Facilitate weekly status reviews and design meetings to ensure interdisciplinary communication and coordination.
- Review the status of tasks, deliverables, quality, and quality processes.
- Update and monitor scope, schedule, budget, and forecasts.
- Manage changes and issue change orders to clients as necessary.
- Ensure execution plans are revised following approvals of changes in scope, schedule, quality, or deliverables.
- Maintain effective communication with clients through various channels, including phone calls, emails, status meetings, and reports.
- Track project progress and provide weekly progress reports to clients.
- Ensure the project team adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Conduct lessons learned sessions during the project execution phase.
- Mentor engineers and designers to foster professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) is required.
Experience: 0 - 3 years, with focused experience in engineering, design drafting, or engineering technology.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Bluebeam/Adobe, and MS Windows.
Other Requirements: Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, technical aptitude, organizational skills, quick learning ability, self-motivation, integrity, and effective collaboration skills.
