Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a driven Geotechnical Engineer to be based in our Sacramento, California office, providing civil engineering and design services for substantial water infrastructure initiatives.

This role will require collaboration with a multidisciplinary team comprising civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists to plan, design, and execute large-scale water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee subsurface investigations, including test pits, drilling exploration boreholes, and advancing CPTs at various locations.
  • Review and allocate geotechnical samples for laboratory testing.
  • Inspect and supervise construction activities to monitor progress and ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and construction standards.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations.
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Review regulations and standards essential for conducting technical studies and executing project design and permitting work.
  • Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with designers and drafting personnel to develop conceptual and as-built drawings.
  • Compile and document geotechnical data using software tools such as Excel, Word, gINT, and AutoCAD.
  • Implement QA/QC requirements for your work and that of the project team.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant geotechnical project experience.
Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
California Professional Engineering License.

Experience in the planning, design, and construction of water resources projects, including pump stations, dams, levees, flood control facilities, pipelines, cutoff walls, and earthmoving projects.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.

Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software, such as SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, and L-Pile.

Additional Information
The offered compensation rate in Sacramento, CA will be determined based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The target salary range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000.
