Position Overview
The Beverage Shift Manager at Encore Boston Harbor plays a crucial role in overseeing the Beverage team to ensure operational excellence. This position requires effective management of Beverage personnel, both in preparation for their shifts and during service. The Beverage Shift Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards across various outlets, including restaurants, lounges, and service bars, while aligning departmental strategies with the overall objectives of Encore Boston Harbor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and uphold Encore Boston Harbor's core values and departmental standards.
  • Develop and manage departmental goals, policies, and procedures; assess operational effectiveness and implement necessary improvements.
  • Oversee the performance and compliance of team members, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in departmental processes.
  • Monitor departmental activities to ensure adherence to internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Facilitate effective communication across the property by organizing regular meetings with team members and other departments.
  • Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and employee engagement initiatives within the Beverage department.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and recommend strategies to enhance departmental success.
  • Address guest and team member concerns with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Promote a positive and ethical workplace culture among team members and external partners.
  • Ensure timely submission of beverage reports and maintain high morale among team members.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Beverage on special projects and seasonal menu updates.
  • Assist with special events and activations as needed.
  • Assign staff to various locations based on job requirements and individual capabilities.
  • Evaluate team performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain knowledge of industry standards through ongoing training.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Required to obtain and maintain relevant licenses from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
  • ServSafe or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of bartending experience is required, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various software applications are necessary.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; proficiency in a second language is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and create reports as needed.
  • Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical activities.

Work Environment:
The work environment is dynamic, with varying noise levels depending on the location within the property. Team members must be adaptable to changing schedules and business needs.
