Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and accurately input all required data elements for scheduling and registration, including patient demographics, financial information, guarantor information, and relevant notes associated with the encounter.
  • Prioritize and complete scheduling in a consistent, courteous, professional, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Review the schedule to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure each patient is assigned only one medical record number.
  • Select the appropriate patient type based on the department and services required.
  • Document in account notes.
  • Ensure orders are received and are consistent with tests/procedures.
  • Confirm schedule with each physician daily; confirm a null schedule.

Customer Focus:

  • Effectively meet customer needs, build productive customer relationships, and take responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Greet patients courteously and professionally.
  • Call patients by name.
  • Ask patients if they may have special needs.
  • Represent the Surgery department in a professional, courteous manner at ALL times.
  • Work with other departments to resolve Scheduling issues in a timely and professional manner.

Education and Training:

  • Provide focused education for staff as needed.
  • Coordinate new hire training (if needed).
  • Assure Healthstream education is completed timely.
  • Attend the majority of Direct Connects.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree preferred with emphasis in Health/business-related field.
  • 6 months of scheduling experience preferred.
