Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Catholic Charities is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the accounts payable cycle, general ledger maintenance, and other financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and administer agency/program purchase orders
  • Primary backup to Accounts Payable Specialist for duties including processing and reconciling purchase orders, assisting with check requests, and reviewing invoices for documentation
  • Support the monthly close process, prepare and enter data to the general ledger, and reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and process journal entries, perform bank account reconciliations, and maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with annual audit engagement and other ad-hoc projects as needed
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in a similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access
  • Experience with Abila MIP accounting software a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
