About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician to serve as the Chief of the Hematology and Oncology Section at the Augusta Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the section, supervising a team of healthcare professionals, and providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Hematology and Oncology section, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality patient care.
  • Supervise a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, fellows, and residents, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Diagnose and manage blood-related disorders, such as anemia, leukemia, and hemophilia, as well as oncological diseases, including solid tumors and endocrine tumors.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with blood disorders and oncological diseases, utilizing evidence-based practices and staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements.
  • Perform specialized therapies, such as blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants, and administer pharmaceutical infusions, including chemotherapy and biological agents.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of treatments and adjust them as needed, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide regular check-ups and follow-up care for patients with blood disorders, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in clinical trials and research studies to advance the field of hematology and oncology, staying at the forefront of medical knowledge and best practices.
Requirements
  • United States citizenship or non-citizenship with a valid work visa.
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a residency program in a relevant specialty, such as hematology and oncology.
  • Board certification in hematology and oncology, or eligibility for certification.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
