Job Title: Tool and Die Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Supervisor to join our team at Virco MFG. Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of tool and die makers, ensuring the production and repair of metalworking dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and cutting tools meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the analysis of specifications to visualize products and ensure conformance to design requirements.
  • Coordinate the computation of dimensions, planning of layout and assembly operations, and setup of machine tools.
  • Review tool designs for new tooling and verify conformance to specifications.
  • Estimate tool costs and plan overall operations to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Approve purchase orders for materials and components and develop, coach, and mentor staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, recommend salary adjustments, and take disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Design, train, and manage the tool and die design group and handle multiple project deadlines.
  • Develop, interpret, and ensure the consistent application of organization policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of Tool and Die experience.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and communicate effectively with management and employees.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work well with outside vendors and machine shops and drive motorized equipment or vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and make informed decisions relating to area of responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to motivate others in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work well with others and display an attitude of cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and drive position change.
  • Experience in safe practices and producing quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with E-PAC, MASTERCAM, Solid Works, or SAP.
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Metallurgy/heat treat knowledge.
  • Experience with estimating project costs.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds to waist level and push/pull up to 30 pounds. Occasionally bends and stoops. Must be able to withstand a minimum of 2 to 3 hours drawing sketches or doing modifications. Must wear applicable and proper protective equipment to safely perform job duties.
