Event Operations Leader - Puff 'n Stuff Catering

The Event Operations Leader is responsible for delivering exceptional leadership across the Event Operations Departments, which encompass service, culinary, and logistics. This role involves guiding departmental heads and acting as a vital resource for the sustained growth of the Puff 'n Stuff brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the organization operates at the highest standards aligned with its mission and core values.
  • Oversee daily operations of service and logistics teams while collaborating with other department heads.
  • Maintain operational budgets and meet performance targets across all departments.
  • Implement systems to review operating costs, ensuring alignment with revenue goals in partnership with the Financial Controller.
  • Address service challenges and establish standards that reflect customer expectations and brand integrity.
  • Enhance operational activities through effective inventory management, performance metrics development, and interdepartmental communication.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements across departments.
  • Adhere to HR protocols within each department.
  • Enforce agreed-upon control measures throughout the organization.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Align departmental goals with overarching business objectives and brand values.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring team awareness and adherence.
  • Engage in hands-on management practices.
  • Utilize scheduling tools to meet operational needs and budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to update event orders as necessary.
  • Participate in pre-event planning meetings with kitchen, sales, logistics, and service teams to discuss event requirements.
  • Stay informed about the event schedule.
  • Manage the selection and costing of menu items, contracts, temporary staffing, and equipment.
  • Recruit for various operational roles as needed.
  • Provide support at off-site events as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ensure prompt responses to inquiries and service requests.
  • Establish and maintain processes for communication and action on initiatives.
  • Focus on customer service excellence, maintaining a positive demeanor while managing the demands of high-profile clients.
  • Effectively plan and communicate the needs of customers to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Continuously seek improvements in event operations regarding presentation and cost efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the hospitality sector is preferred.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of catering operations, including buffet service and plated dining.
  • Experience in managing financial reports and budgets.
  • An Associate's Degree in Hospitality or Culinary Arts is required; a BA/BS is preferred.
  • Proficiency in supervising food preparation, service, logistics, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to multitask and anticipate operational needs effectively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Serv Safe Certification is necessary.
  • A valid and clean driving license is required.
