About HII's Newport News Shipbuilding
With a workforce exceeding 25,000, including generations of shipbuilders, HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division stands as Virginia's largest industrial employer. We are the exclusive designer, builder, and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two suppliers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our innovative team comprises skilled trades, project managers, engineers, software developers, solution architects, and technical experts. Rooted in a rich history of 135 years, we collaborate at the cutting edge of technology, manufacturing, and integration of the most formidable naval vessels globally.

Role Overview
In this role, you will oversee and manage the operational components of ongoing projects, acting as a liaison among project management, planning, project teams, and line management. You will review project statuses and budgets, manage timelines, and prepare status reports. Your responsibilities will include assessing project challenges and devising solutions to achieve productivity, quality, and client satisfaction objectives. You will develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and facilitate intervention and problem-solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This successful candidate will be a self-driven individual supporting submarine initiatives within the Digital Initiative (DI) Program Management Office (PMO) under Engineering and Design Process and Tools (EDPT). Key responsibilities will involve the Integrated Product Development Environment (IPDE) for the Columbia and Virginia Class Submarine Program and the next-generation Fast-Attack Submarine for SSN(X). The individual will maintain the digital portfolio and roadmaps, track essential program metrics, and assist in providing programmatic oversight for projects under the DI PMO. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, experience in managing multiple complex projects, proficient organizational and time management skills, and the ability to create effective Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) that drive project execution to completion. Familiarity with model-based engineering, iDS, IPDE, and/or Visual Work Instruction (VWI) processes is advantageous but not mandatory.

What You Will Gain
As part of a talented team in a matrix organization, you will experience collaboration, cross-training, and empowerment. You will have opportunities for personal and professional growth by supporting various submarine program initiatives through task oversight, metrics analysis, and the development of presentations and reports that align with business needs. If you seek a role that balances tactical and strategic responsibilities, encourages innovation, and fosters a desire to learn while working at a dynamic pace, this position is ideal for you.
