Job Overview: The Healthcare Support Specialist collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to perform a range of clinical and administrative tasks related to patient care, whether in the 'Front Office' or 'Back Office'. This role is essential in addressing various patient needs and ensuring efficient patient flow within the department. Responsibilities include the collection, organization, and documentation of healthcare data. If assigned to the Call Center, the specialist will manage patient inquiries, direct calls appropriately, and schedule appointments in accordance with departmental protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred: 1 year in an Ambulatory setting.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Certifications:

  • Required: BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Additional requirements may apply for specific specialties.
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT).

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
  • Completion and documentation of California's venipuncture/phlebotomy requirements with proven competency may be required for certain departments.
  • Shift hours may vary.
Work Schedule: 32 hours per week, with specific shifts noted as 'exempt'.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $37.19, based on relevant experience and/or licensure. Note: Positions at John Muir Health that are exempt (not eligible for overtime) below the Manager level are listed hourly for compensation purposes.
