We are an equal opportunity employer seeking a qualified Transportation Specialist to join our team at Harlow's Bus Service MT Inc. in Missoula. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school and related events.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Transport students in a timely manner to and from school and to and from school activities following district safety procedures and applicable State Board of Education rules and regulations.
  • Operate and safely drive a school bus in various weather conditions while transporting passengers to school or special events, adhering to traffic regulations.
  • Communicate bus rules/safety and behavior requirements to passengers and address improper behavior immediately using interpersonal communication skills.
  • Interact with student's parents to resolve inappropriate or unsafe behavior, utilizing strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Assist students/passengers boarding and unloading the bus when necessary, including wheelchair students and adaptive equipment.
  • Inspect buses daily to identify and report deficiencies and perform vehicle maintenance tasks such as fluid/fuel level checks, tire pressure inspections, washing/cleaning, and installing tire chains.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
  • Maintain knowledge of Federal, State, and District regulations concerning school bus operation and comply with all traffic regulations.
  • Complete records/reports accurately and on time, such as pre-trip/post trip reports, route logs, mileage, student counts, seating charts, student reports, time sheets, stop arm violations, and submit them to the Transportation Department.
  • Read maps and follow written/geographic directions according to route/trip logs.
Requirements:
  • A valid CDL driver's license with a 'P' endorsement for passengers and a 'S' endorsement for school buses, without air brake restrictions, and a good driving record.
  • Compliance with part 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and possession of a US DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Ongoing First Aid/CPR certification if required.
