Orthodontic Care Assistant

Key Responsibilities

The Orthodontic Care Assistant works closely with the practice team to deliver superior clinical support, enabling patients to receive the treatment they require. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures and assisting the Orthodontist by organizing materials and equipment for their use.

Essential Skills for Success

  • Deliver exceptional chair-side clinical support and assistance to doctors, including charting, operatory setup/cleanup, and patient education.
  • Accurately record and review patient health histories, make chart entries under the doctor's guidance, and ensure the completion of necessary forms in dental software.
  • Enter and update patient treatment plans as directed by the treating doctor.
  • Proficiently change and remove wires, brackets, and adhesives, take impressions, conduct scans, and prepare teeth for bonding.
  • Prepare treatment estimates for patient review and discussion.
  • Review the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
  • Prepare patients, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, maintain aseptic conditions, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

What You Need to Succeed in This Role

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • State Licensure as required.
  • Valid Dental Radiographer License according to state regulations.
  • CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • A commitment to providing outstanding service, support, and education to patients.
