The Senior Electrical Project Engineer within the Development Engineering division is integral to facilitating various engineering requests for ongoing projects. This role primarily concentrates on electrical design tailored for solar, energy storage, and other renewable energy initiatives aimed at utility applications. The responsibilities encompass a diverse array of tasks, including due diligence, feasibility assessments, proposal evaluations, design audits, and cost analysis. A solid understanding of solar photovoltaic modules, energy storage systems, inverters, and related technologies is crucial. Furthermore, there is a strong commitment to fostering environmental responsibility and promoting a culture of safety within the Engineering team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support various electrical engineering components of development projects, including capital expense assessments, collaboration with the Transmission Interconnection team, and facilitating project approvals.
  • Provide engineering assistance for PV/MV systems in conjunction with the Solar and Storage Business Development Engineering teams.
  • Engage in all phases of Development Engineering tasks related to electrical design, including layout planning and the creation of diagrams for interconnection applications.
  • Utilize ETAP software to develop renewable project models and optimize electrical configurations for enhanced efficiency.
  • Participate in value-engineering evaluations to investigate alternative design methodologies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to industry standards.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct technical analyses and prepare necessary documentation to support project milestones and contractor engagements.
  • Review project documentation and provide technical insights to inform decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of drawing libraries and project templates.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and technical proficiency through ongoing learning and engagement with industry peers.
  • Participate in discussions with key stakeholders to guide project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the refinement of scopes of work, guidelines, specifications, and budget templates.
  • Engage in cross-departmental collaborations to promote interdepartmental relations and project success.
  • Support the development of preliminary electrical studies for various teams within the organization.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating cost estimates based on project requirements and contractor feedback.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering matters to ensure project success and compliance.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be necessary with prior approval.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in planning, design, and engineering is essential.
  • Experience in the Renewable Energy and Power utility sectors is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as NEC, IEEE, NESC, and ANSI is important.
  • Knowledge of Power System software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with project management tools is required.
  • Behavioral traits should include strong technical skills, interpersonal abilities, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effective time-management capabilities are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and track progress efficiently.
  • Physical demands include flexibility in tasks, the ability to lift items, good vision and hearing, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to engage in physical tasks on project sites and perform desk-based work as required.
